Pinpoint subsurface utilities with confidence. MNG Locate enhances underground mapping and utility locating with subsurface spatial data. Deeper expertise, knowledge and insights for any project. Calculate risks with confidence.
Avoid risks, delays, and cost blowouts.
Before you dig, you need to know what’s underground. Australia has an ageing and complex underground network, and sometimes the surface-level plan doesn’t always match what’s underground. Striking high voltage cables, gas mains or pressurised pipelines can put lives at risk, halt your project and trigger cost blowouts.
At MNG, our utility locating technicians deploy advanced dual-frequency Ground Penetrating Radar (ground penetrating radar) and electromagnetic detection, delivering verified subsurface data before a single shovel hits the ground. From non-conductive utilities to high-voltage infrastructure, we locate it all with precision, keeping your project on time and your people safe.
Delivering the complete utility mapping package.
Capture assets above and below the ground, safely and discreetly. Our team combines advanced scanning and traditional surveying services with our subsurface capabilities.
With all the local knowledge, cutting-edge technology, and resources you need, we’ll ensure you have a complete presentation-ready profile of your project site.
Capable.
Reliable.
Accredited.
You can rest assured your project is in the best hands.
We’re ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accredited, with a zero-harm policy (for people, property and the environment). We also operate within the Australian Standards for the classification of Subsurface Utility Information AS5488.

You’ll have all the accurate data you need to progress your project and realise its commercial value.
Utility Mapping That Lives Beyond the Survey.
Locating utilities is only half of the job, the other half is making that data usable. Our utility mapping and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) service takes field-located utility data and transforms it into accurate, geospatially referenced records. This rich dataset integrates directly into your planning, design and asset management workflows.
Every utility we locate is tied to precise coordinates and delivered in the format your team needs. GIS layers, CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings, shapefiles and enterprise mapping systems don’t just sit in a folder, they become a living record your organisation can access, interrogate, update and build on over time.
Found Before You Dig. GPR & Sensor-Based Detection.
This is where utility locating begins. Our technicians deploy GPR, electromagnetic locators and radio frequency detection equipment to physically find and map buried infrastructure before ground is broken.
GPR is particularly valuable for detecting non-metallic utilities. Plastic pipes, fibre optic conduits and other non conductive assets that electromagnetic locators alone will miss. Combined with passive and active locating techniques, we build a complete picture of what’s underground, its position, depth and type.
Every mark-out and cable avoidance survey we deliver gives your project team the verified subsurface intelligence to excavate, design and plan with confidence.
Engineering-Grade Utility Intelligence.
For high-risk and high-value infrastructure projects, guesswork isn’t an option. Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is a formalised methodology that delivers graded, quality-controlled utility data your engineers and project owners can rely on at every stage of design and construction.
Following the ASCE 38-02 standard, our subsurface utility exploration process works through four quality levels, each building confidence in the utility picture:
- QL-D: Desktop research using existing records
- QL-C: Above-ground survey correlated with existing records
- QL-B: Geophysical detection using GPR and electromagnetic locating
- QL-A: Physical exposure via vacuum excavation or potholing to confirm exact position and depth
The result is precise utility positions, attribute data and conflict analyses, all delivered in CAD and GIS formats. For projects where a utility strike would be catastrophic, SUE feeds verified, engineering-grade data directly into your BIM workflows.
